Squam Lake Wedding | A Walk in the Woods

This spring I joined Kate Headley at Squam Lake in NH for a wedding. Being there brought me back to my childhood. I grew up in NH – Plymouth, NH to be exact. When I was little, we had a cabin on Little Squam. It was a little brown wooden cottage with a large deck which sat a few feet from the lake. To the right, we had a dock where our bright orange boat (yup – it was the 70’s), The Macushla, parked. I near drowned in that lake. Twice. But thanks to my sister, Erin, and our neighbor, Mrs. Cowan who plucked me out, I am here today. And I have fond memories of the lake in spite of those incidents.

The wedding took place at the Rockywold Deephaven Camps. The rustic cabins were so much like the one I had known as a kid and I just fell in love with this place!

And of course, the wedding itself was nothing short of amazing. We were lucky to have some HOT, but beautiful weather for our stay (especially considering the weekend before was snowing!).

Here are just some personal shots I snapped while I walked around camp…

The wedding ceremony took place on Church Island (pic on the right).

Heading out to Church Island for the rehearsal. Here’s the cabin where we stayed.

I just love birch trees.

I’m really looking forward to heading back up North to NH’s largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, later this summer. This time for pure fun! Wahoo!
